Watch Face Forerunner 45

Several of Garmin’s latest watches offer support for apps, music and other smart features. They can also be personalized by downloading and installing custom watch faces, which completely change the way the main display looks.

Some of the Garmin smartwatches that support custom watch faces include Fenix 6, Forerunner 235, Vivoactive 3, Forerunner 45, Forerunner 245 and Forerunner 945. If you’d like to check whether or not your device is supported you can visit Garmin’s ConnectIQ storefront.

When you lace up your shoes and get ready to run, make sure you have the right tool for the job. Forerunner 45 is the GPS running watch with all the running-related features you need in a sleek, lightweight smartwatch that you’ll want to wear all day and night.

  • From the watch face, select START. Select an activity. Go outside, and wait while the device locates satellites. Select START to start the activity timer. After you complete your run, select STOP to stop the timer. Select an option: Select Resume to restart the timer. Select Save to save the run and reset the timer.
  • In the connect store look up “pikachu” and you will see the best watch face. I am using forerunner 645, previously used data lover but can’t comment on more battery drain over stock.
  • When you lace up your shoes and get ready to run, make sure you have the right tool for the job. Forerunner 45 is the GPS running watch with all the running-related features you need in a sleek, lightweight smartwatch that you’ll want to wear all day and night.
  • This is a feature worth celebrating. Garmin have finally introduced custom watch faces to their entry level running watch (FR45). Together with the enhanced design and color screen, the addition of custom watch faces completes a series of visual upgrades that will keep the Forerunner 45 looking sharp for years to come.

Like much of Garmin’s downloadable content, the watch faces are created by third-party developers. You can browse, download and rate them via ConnectIQ. More are added to the store regularly, so it’s always good to check back and see what’s new.

You can also download apps, widgets, and other updates via ConnectIQ depending on the device you own. Almost any of Garmin’s wearables can be enhanced by adding new device apps or custom data fields, which allows the watch to track more than it does natively. A Garmin Approach golf-themed watch, for example, can be used to track hiking specific stats, or display a star-chart, merely by installing new content.

That being said, one of the best ways to spruce up your watch is to install custom watch faces. You can find new faces that display way more than just the time, like sports stats, calendar details and even custom graphics — there’s a Super Mario themed watch face!

To help you get started, here are some of the best Garmin watch faces you can download right now:

Exercising is great for the body and it is also fun if you are striving to improve the performance. For those who are motivated to be better, it is convenient to have a fitness tracker or a fitness smartwatch that can track your progress. Running smartwatches like Forerunner 45 Vs Venu Sq are easy to wear and can provide plenty of information already. If you also wonder which of the two will be the better choice, let’s see what you can expect from the two here.

In this comparison, we are going to talk about:

Garmin 45 Forerunner Review

Fitness Smartwatch

Not all of us are going to be motivated the same way because there are different reasons why someone is pursuing their goals. For us who are aiming to get better at fitness and want to improve our overall health or stamina, exercising routinely is one of the efforts to try besides changing into a healthier habit including a balanced diet and enough rest. What can make you more motivated to do better tomorrow is probably a good overview of your current performance.

This is what a fitness tracker and running or fitness smartwatch can offer. Especially for smartwatches, they used to be quite exclusive back then because only enthusiasts are known to wear one but at a short time they become fashionable as well which makes the device more well-known and adopted by the general users whether they use the fitness tracking ability or not. In general, running smartwatches are the most popular and they are categorized as fitness trackers as well for the same purpose.

What a running smartwatch can offer is tracking ability and unlike fitness tracker, they have GPS built in the device which makes sure they can count the distance and even take the terrain into account of your fitness ability. This is the basic function but different options may have different features to offer as well and this is highly subjective to the type of exercise or data that you want to have. In some cases the additional feature may have nothing to do with the fitness ability.

Before getting a running smartwatch, make sure to know what type of data that you want. In most cases you will get the typical information including time, pace or speed, and distance which makes them ideal for a variety of runs. Determine what you are trying to achieve to know what to look for because the amount of data doesn’t correlate to better understanding if we don’t need them or are unable to translate them into more meaningful information.

Besides the data, also consider the type of exercise that you will be doing. Running smartwatch will provide information related to running but it doesn’t mean you can only use it with runs because there are also other exercises like cycling and swimming or even indoor training that you can do at home or the gym. The data may be more limited indoors as it doesn’t use GPS but should be useful to track how your body spends the energy and effort.

About Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq

If you are also motivated by the type of information a GPS smartwatch can offer, it is great to have one. They are easy to wear meaning we can use them on a daily basis and they won’t attract attention as well because it is already very common. Fitness smartwatch and regular GPS smartwatch are very similar so it can be a bit confusing. They are not the same and before deciding the option, we have to know what the device can offer or whether they are suitable for your activity.

There are also more than plenty to choose from based on which attract you the most but we do suggest getting one from a popular brand or well-known names because they are the most promising and in comparison they are also often to be the more reliable choice for the better quality products and customer service. When it comes to fitness tracker or GPS smartwatch, Garmin is always one of the best options for their high quality products and huge range of options.

What’s confusing is, there are lots of similar choices and do note that not all of them will be identical even though they may come from the same line such as Garmin Forerunner 45 Vs 245. If you prefer to spend less, we do recommend getting the Garmin Forerunner 45 or Venu Sq. Both of them are often compared because they carry the same type of functionalities yet, the Forerunner 45 is more tailored towards fitness gear while Venu Sq is a lifestyle GPS smartwatch.

What you will notice is how different the Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq are when it comes to how they show the information. The type of layout itself is different but in terms of ability the Sq is not lacking at all, in fact it probably carries more than what you can expect on the Forerunner 45. The price gap does make a difference between the two and it comes back to you whether the additional information and styling of Venu Sq are attractive or not.

Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq Design

Before moving further, let’s see the actual watch first and this is one of the basic differences between the two. It can be an aesthetic preference but personally we don’t really have any issue with either round or square watch faces. The materials used are also different including the watch display because Venu Sq is already using Gorilla Glass 3 while 45 is just chemically strengthened glass. There are two versions of the 45 and three versions of the Venu Sq to choose from based on the watch size and feature.

The watch display of Venu Sq is also slightly better as it has more pixels but they are equally visible under the sunlight. Another difference we notice from the unit is their strap because if we usually use this clip style that can be easily removed and swapped, the Forerunner 45 requires you to remove two small screws on each silicone band to change the strap so we guess there will be less strap compatible with this smartwatch.

Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq Watch Face

Now for the most important part, let’s see what you can get from Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq starting from the watch’s face. The appearance and information of 45 show that it is a running smartwatch as you will get typical information right at the front including the data of your steps and runs today. The Venu Sq has a different watch face and a feature tilt to wake to save the battery. You can download watch faces from the Garmin app for Forerunner 45 but the latter is more customizable.

Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq Features

Because Venu Sq is more of a lifestyle smartwatch, they also have lots to offer and the menu is more complicated in comparison. Talking about the features we will talk about what you can’t get on the Forerunner 45 and paid for in the Venu Sq. The first is Pulse Ox sensor which is also present on the 245 series and this sensor is useful to measure the saturation of oxygen in your blood. Second, the Forerunner 45 also has no on board memory and Wi-Fi.

This means there is no option to store or listen to your favorite playlist from the watch while Venu Sq is available in the music version that can play songs from various streaming services like Spotify and Deezer. You may also connect compatible TWS like AirPods Pro with the watch to wirelessly listen to the songs while on the other hand we only have the option to control the music in our phone through Forerunner 45. Having no Wi-Fi also means we are relying on the smartphone for communicating with Garmin IQ.

Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq Activities

Lastly, we want to talk about the type of activities that you can do with Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq which is closely related to the lifestyle. In Forerunner 45, the list is quite limited with only treadmill, bike, cardio, walk, and yoga while in addition we can find indoor track, bike indoor, walk indoor, elliptical, stair stepper, and other settings for the activity that you can select from the Garmin Connect app on the phone. Many of these activities are also present on the Venu Sq.

In Venu Sq, we can find running, treadmill, indoor track, cycling, indoor bike, walking, walking indoor, pool swim, golf, ski, snowboarding, yoga, rowing, and many more. Additionally, both Forerunner 45 and Venu Sq are tracking sleep but the data shown by 45 is pretty basic compared to the in-depth graph provided by the latter.

Forerunner 45 vs Venu SQ

Does it mean the Forerunner 45 is a bad choice? We don’t think so because it all depends on what you are looking for. The more information doesn’t always mean it will be useful for you so if what you need is only distance and heart rate, the 45 is cheaper and also easier to use. But, if you want all health related information that you can gather from a piece of smartwatch, the Venu Sq is more than capable as a lifestyle gear and fitness tracker.

Garmin 45 Gps

Both are good options based on which seems to be more useful in your application. Personally we recommend the Forerunner 45 if you only need the basic information and doing the included workouts but if you are a fan of various sports as well, the Venu Sq is a very capable watch to accompany your daily routine.
